KM’s taking it on the road. Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue has just announced the North American dates for her upcoming Aphrodite – Live 2011 tour. The highly anticipated tour will highlight music from her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite, and begins April 28 in Montreal through May 22 where she’ll close the tour at the legendary Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV. In fact, Kylie’s world tour kicks off next week– February 19 –in Denmark and will play in arenas throughout Europe & Japan before hitting Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Aphrodite debuted at number one on the UK charts, an impressive confirmation that her staying power has not waned after more than two decades in the pop music business. Hard to believe it’s been 23 years since she hit the scene in the late ’80’s with humvee-bustin’ force belting a remake of the 1962 Little Eva hit Locomotion. Ahh those were the days…big hair, mismatched earrings, fingerless gloves, kitten-heel pumps with ankle socks, and hotpink lipstick. The song even became the biggest Australian single of the ‘80’s. Ten albums and a brave bout with breast cancer later she’s still going strong, including philanthropic work promoting breast cancer education, AIDS, and UNICEF. Her tireless efforts earned her Woman of the Year from both GQ and Glamour magazines.
