The undeniably hot James Franco first graced the small screen on the short-lived, rather forgettable comedy-drama Freaks and Geeks in the late 90s, but his latest venture into television was quite possibly even worse. James has received plenty of criticisms—to put it nicely—for his co-hosting duties of the 83rd Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27.

Alongside the always gorgeous Anne Hathaway, James seemed more interested in his cell phone and posting vids on Twitter than he did in his Oscar duties. Most of the viewers at home (and probably most of the celebs in the audience, too) assumed he was high. No one knows for sure, but CBS called his skits with Anne “uninspiring” while the Hollywood Reporter said “Franco seemed distant, uninterested and content to keep his Cheshire-cat-meets-smug smile on display throughout. This year, the Oscars hit a new low. Like it fell into a hole.” Ouch! With a capital O!

Based on those reviews, if you missed James and his shenanigans at the awards you might want to consider yourself lucky. Check him out in the Spider-Man trilogy, Tristan & Isolde, Pineapple Express, Milk, Date Night, 127 Hours, or Eat Pray Love instead. Seen here during a coffee run sporting practical cold weather garb and a pair of sporty Ray Ban sunglasses, James looks mysterious and on a mission—hopefully one that was successful, unlike his latest professional gig.
