Missoni for Target has certainly been on the brain these past few weeks…from the retro-inspired ad campaigns, to the drool-worthy 400-piece collection that even had celebs foaming at the mouth. But most of all, the collaboration is top of mind for the insane lines at 4am, cleaned-out shelves, the website crash heard ’round the world with the dreaded “Woof” webpage, and scores of angry customers (need we go on about the launch gone awry?). More than a week later, shoppers who were lucky enough to have their Missoni orders go through online (or so they thought) took to Facebook and Twitter saying that they won’t be shopping at Target again because they’ve just been told their online orders are being substantially delayed – or worse, totally canceled. Holy backfire, Batman!
Needless to say, Target’s Missoni fiasco was the result of the retailer not heeding to the basic “5 P’s” (prior planning prevents piss-poor performance). The colossal mishap does, however, solidify the flawlessness of the coveted Missoni brand. And the heiress to her family’s famed fashion house founded by her grandparents, Margherita Missoni, literally personifies the label’s fabulousness as a designer and face of the brand in ad campaigns and catalogs. This Italian beauty’s sense of style is, of course, revered in the “biz” as well. Would you expect anything less with those genes? Here she rocks a pair of glam red embellished eyeglasses that are sure to top high-wantage lists everywhere. –rpuccia
