Turning 21 is a big deal, and many choose to celebrate it with a wild party. In Demi Lovato's case, though, the story is a bit different. The singer/actress hasn't been drinking since her 2010 rehab, so she chose to spend her big day in Kenya, Africa. Demi, together with friends and family, traveled there to help build a school, as well as for a charitable sunset safari. “My 21st birthday is gonna be different than what I expected a couple of years ago,” she told a magazine before leaving the continent. As for her gift wishlist, Demi said she wouldn't mind getting a Cartier Love Bracelet, which is valued at $5,000. However, that's more of a joke, because what she really wants is to have more singles on the radio, to find the winner of X Factor 2013 and to be a good person.

Demi Lovato debuts her 21st year with more good news: she's joining the cast of Glee! The X Factor judge will have more air time on Fox, as part of the fifth season of the show. Her character is named Dani, and she's a struggling New York artist that becomes friends with Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera). Her first appearance on the show is October 3rd, in a Beatles-themed episode, although the new season premiers on September 26th. Demi hasn't acted for about two years, so she must be really excited about the new gig!
