An appearance on ER in 2003 was Chris Pine’s first professional role, but acting definitely runs in his family. The gorgeous Star Trek actor’s father, Robert Pine, starred as Sergeant Joseph Getraer in the hit motorcycle cop drama CHiPs during the late 1970s and early 80s. His mother, Gloria Gwynne Gilford, also appeared in several different TV shows in the 70s and 80s, including a recurring guest role as her real-life husband’s character’s wife on CHiPs. Chris’ grandmother Anne Gwynne was one of Hollywood’s first “scream queens” because of her numerous appearances in horror movies during the 1940s and one of the most popular pin-up models during World War II.
With a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley—he graduated in 2002—Chris is one smart cookie. He even spent a year at the prestigious University of Leeds in England and studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco after graduation. Looking scholarly in a pair of classic Ray Ban eyeglasses, Chris oozes masculinity and confidence. The shiny black frames are also available in yellow Havana. You can catch him in This Means War with Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon and Chelsea Handler later this year.
