The title of the newly released 3D computer-animated film Rio: The Movie refers to the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, where the film is set. This latest celebrity-studded endeavor of Blue Sky Studios—the creators of the Ice Age series— is perfect for kids of all ages. The movie tells the comedic tale of Blu, a domesticated macaw that never learned how to fly. Blu and his best friend / owner leave their home in Moose Lake, Minnesota to visit Rio de Janeiro, where they find Blu’s female counterpart—a macaw named Jewel, voiced by none other than the adorable Anne Hathaway. Her co-stars include Jesse Eisenberg, Jamie Foxx, will.i.am, Tracy Morgan and George Lopez among others.

Anne made quite the splash at the movie’s April 10, 2011 premier on the blue carpet (get it?) at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, but not for her acting talents. According to E! Online, The Princess Diaries beauty sported a shimmery purple Gucci dress with fringe details and matching strappy heels. She kept her bling-bling to a minimum and instead accessorized with a pair of oversized geeky spectacles. Not just anyone can pull off a designer dress and geek chic eyeglasses at the same time, but we think that Anne looked adorable as always. Intelligent bookworm from the neck up and glamorous goddess from the neck down—a perfect combo!
