Jonah Hill is not your “typical” Hollywood A-lister. But he’s turned his quirkiness into one of the most successful careers in Tinsel Town. The actor/screenwriter has parlayed in such cult-followed comedic films as 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad, Evan Almighty, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall–both in front of and behind the camera. His next venture–a reboot of the late ’80’s hit TV show, 21 Jump Street (yeah, the show that put Johnny Depp on the proverbial map). The show went four seasons on Fox (’87-’91) and followed a group of young cops whose youthful appearances enabled them to work undercover in both high schools and sometimes colleges to catch troubled youths. The show’s plots covered typical youth-related issues including alcoholism, hate crimes, drug abuse, homophobia, AIDS, child abuse, and sexual promiscuity. Jonah wrote, produced, and will star in the remake alongside the impossibly hunky Channing Tatum. The Superbad star even got Johnny Depp to do a cameo in the film.
Jonah describes the film as comedic, but yet full of action-packed scenes with “stuff blowing up.” He quipped: “Sony execs said they were gonna let me make my kind of movie — an R-rated, insane, “Bad-Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie.” The comments echo Jonah’s earlier statement to MTV, in which he revealed that Sony allegedly told Hill he’d have full control over the feature. He’s definitely in control here, as he takes a break from his signature Ray Ban Wayfarers in these uber-stylish, star-worthy Christian Dior shades, available in black and dark havanna frame hues. –rpuccia
