Forbes just announced their annual list of the 10 highest-paid actresses in Tinseltown and tying at the top of the list (drum roll, please), Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker, who each earned an estimated $30 million. Angelina, of course, has established her bankability as an actress who can easily handle action, drama, and even directing. Her two big-budget 2010 action movies included Salt and The Tourist. The latter, which co-starred Johnny Depp, initially looked like it was going to be a flop after a weak opening weekend box-office haul of $16 million. But thanks mostly to the overseas market, the film went on to earn $280 million, cementing Jolie’s appeal abroad. And she wrote and directed the upcoming film In the Land of Blood and Honey, a romance set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War.
But many question how SJP got to the top of the coveted list. Well, she still makes most of her cash off of Sex and the City, earning big dollars from reruns of the cable TV show thanks to her dual role as star and producer. The second movie, which hit screens in 2010, performed well, though it wasn’t as big a hit as the first movie (which earned $415 million) but it brought in a very respectable $290 million. True to the values of our beloved Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah’s become a fashion/beauty icon–which equates to big-money endorsements and her mega-successful line of perfumes including Lovely, Covet, and NYC, which brought in a whopping $18 million in 2010. She also recently started helping design clothes for the fashion line Halston. In true icon fashion, she works a pair of glam oversized Dolce & Gabbana shades in her fave shield-style frame shape. –rpuccia
