So what do you get the girl that has everything for her birthday? It seems Jessica Simpson’s fiance Eric Johnson had the answer. He presented her with the ultimate 31st b-day gift last week: a bright orange Birkin bag (with an estimated retail value of $15,000). “Eric made my birthday!” Simpson raved of the lavish gift. “I have never been more surprised in my life!” A photo even surfaced showing the singer kissing the purse, which was perched atop a giant orange box. And the singer and style icon certainly felt the love all around on her big day tweeting, “…only 1 p.m. and I think I have pretty much heard from everyone in my life! That is a birthday record! Huge smile on my face!”
Jessie’s 31st year looks to be a promising one: she will mentor aspiring fashion designers alongside Nicole Richie and menswear designer John Varvatos on NBC’s new reality competition series, Fashion Star. Hosted by supermodel Elle MacPherson, Executive VP of Alternative Programming Paul Telegdy recently told Us Weekly he’s happy to have Simpson on board. “With an almost billion dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers,” he said. And then, of course, is her own upcoming nuptials. She recently went so far as to say that her wedding dress will “out-do” that of Princess Kate’s at the Royal Wedding! (hmmm…better let us be the judge of that.) “Wait till you see my heels for the wedding!” she exuberantly told Access. We’ll be waiting with bated breath, but in the meantime, she looks fab in a retro floral mini dress, platform sandals, and round oversized Marc Jacobs shades available in three havana frame hues including gray, brown and plum. –rpuccia
