Mariah Carey is one for funky eyewear, and Jimmy Choo sunglasses are just to her taste! The singer isn’t covering magazines as much as she once did, so seeing her on The Hollywood Reporter is quite a pleasure! Although she does share the cover with all her American Idol co-judges, including Nicki Minaj, who we all know isn’t her best friend. Carey tells the magazine about how she decided to do this show: “I was on the fence about the whole thing. I got approached by all the shows. [Husband Nick Cannon] said I should do it because it’s the top, it’s the cream of the crop. And I felt like, ‘Do the show that’s produced massive stars who have had major careers.’” Minaj, on the other hand, doesn’t feel like it’s 100% in her benefit to do something so mainstream: “[There’s] a judgmental culture in hip-hop…sometimes you are afraid of being too famous because it’s almost, like, is that even cool? Being that accessible, someone you see on TV every week? I never pictured myself as that type of person. I’m still surprised that I decided to do it,” she said.
