If anyone was still doubting the power of Lupita Nyong’o, they’re probably on her side now. It’s been a full year for the gorgeous actress, starting with her Oscar for 12 Years a Slave and culminating with her People magazine cover, for the World’s Most Beautiful issue. The actress has rose to fame almost instantly, becoming a star overnight after her supporting role in the Academy Award nominated picture. More than just a talented actress, she’s also caught the eye of the fashion crowd, after presenting herself flawlessly all throughout awards season. She recently landed a campaign with Lancome and she attended all the major shows during Fashion Month. “It was exciting and just a major, major compliment,” the 31-year-old says about being named most beautiful. “I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and feel a little more seen.”

Lupita told the magazine that she feels most beautiful when she’s complimented about her looks before putting on her make-up, combing her hair and slipping into a nice dress. The new issue of People Magazine is on newsstands today.
