52 year old George Clooney appears to have proposed to his 36 year old girlfriend, Amal Alamuddin, according to People magazine. A source told the mag that the engagement happened “not that long ago” and that the couple are keeping it low key for now. They also haven’t decided on a date for the wedding, but Alamuddin has been spotted wearing a “huge ring”, which could’ve been nothing else but an engagement one.
Amal Alamuddin is a British attorney and she doesn’t have any Hollywood ties. A source told People earlier this year: “He’s with someone who is a very accomplished attorney. She isn’t someone who is pursuing a career in acting or entertainment. She’s on his level.” The couple have been dating since last autumn, soon after Clooney broke off a two year relationship with Stacy Keibler. The latter moved fast, marrying Jared Pobre this year, which may have caused Clooney to try and reach the same level. Is their engagement a little sudden? Only they should know.

Alamuddin was born in Beirut, and she can speak French and Arabic additional to English. She studied Law at Oxford and NYC, having had a very successful career in the field so far. She hasn’t been married before. Meanwhile, Clooney had a four year marriage with Talia Balsam back in the late 80s-early 90s, and he doesn’t have any kids. Neither source has yet confirmed the engagement, Clooney’s rep stating: “I don’t comment on my client’s personal life.”
