Hard to believe it’s been more than three years since the cult phenom Twilight Saga hit the big screen and Edward Cullen became the fantasy of every girl–young and old–around the world. Now, as the insanely handsome actor Rob Pattinson–who skyrocketed to international heartthrob status with the release of the series’ first film in 2008– wraps up his last scenes for the highly-anticipated final installment, Breaking Dawn, he recently told the Chicago Sun-Times it’s almost as if he’s losing his better half. “It does feel like a breakup. I do love the guy — and I’m going to miss him,” RPattz says of leaving the character behind. “I prefer to think of ending this franchise like leaving school. It’s the last day of high school.” And speaking of Breaking Dawn, Rob shared some 411 on the raciness of the film: “There’s some interesting and weird stuff going on — really very, very, very strange. For a big mainstream movie, it’s the most obscure story line and really outside the box. I’ve seen a few bits, and I just can’t see how it’s going to be PG-13 . . . unless they cut everything out.”
While parting with the romantic bloodsucker is sweet sorrow, there are certain aspects of becoming Edward that he said he would not miss. “I’ll be very glad not to put those contacts in anymore or have to put on the sparkling makeup,” he told the paper with a laugh. But it seems Rob has already moved on, as he’s currently tackling more mature roles. He stars in the upcoming romance, Water for Elephants, opposite Reese Witherspoon which hits theaters this Friday and then in the dark drama Bel Ami, where he’ll stray from his nice-guy image to play a cruel womanizer. (sounds scandalous!) Here, he sports a bit of manly scruff in a pair of stylish Mont Blanc sunglasses, available in three frame colors. –rpuccia
