Shia’s been beating the pavement hawking his new film Transformers: Dark of the Moon which opens in theaters today. But the real news has been more focused on his love life. He admitted that he hooked up with Megan Fox while making the earlier Transformers films — and he’s not sure whether or not his sexy costar was attached at the time to then-boyfriend Brian Austin Green, now her husband. (say what?) In a new Details mag interview, Shia explained about the hook up, “Look, you’re on the set for six months, with someone who’s rooting to be attracted to you, and you’re rooting to be attracted to them.” And when asked about Megan’s status with Brian at the time, he flustered, “I don’t know.” (and repeated “I don’t know” about eight more times). “It was what it was.” He added that the time he spent with Megan was “their own thing,” and that you can see the chemistry onscreen. He also fesses up about other previous romantic hook ups including a single date with fellow Disney alum Hilary Duff–which he described as “probably the worst date either us of have ever had.” But he gushed about his ex-girlfriend Carey Mulligan, with whom he parted ways in October 2010: “I still love her…I think she’s a fu**ing awesome person and an incredible actress. We’re still pals.”
Now, five months after stepping out together hand-in-hand, the 25-year-old actor and current gal pal, Hollywood stylist Karolyn Pho, are still going strong. Although Shia became a superstar thanks to the mega-blockbuster Transformers franchise, he says he’s ready for more sophisticated material. “There’s this coming-of-age thing that’s happening within me,” he says of his acting career. “I have these yearnings to do different things. Which way is this boy gonna go? I have no idea.” We do know, however, that he’s looking mighty hot with an extra “pumped-up” physique and wearing dapper Persol wayfarers, available in three frame hues. –rpuccia
