The Glee actor was found dead on Saturday.
Sad news took the world by surprise this weekend, as Cory Monteith‘s death has been announced. The actor, who rose to fame as one of the main characters in Fox’ Glee, was at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver with some friends. A statement from the police says that he returned to the hotel room alone, in early morning hours, and he was probably alone when he died. The staff went into his room at noon, worried about him missing checkout time, where they found his dead body. Monteith had previously been in rehab twice, where he last self-checked in back in April. Although the police haven’t revealed the cause of death yet, due to insufficient evidence, the press suspects it has to do with his history of substance abuse. Fox representatives said that they are deeply saddened about the tragedy, and that “Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”

Cory Monteith met Lea Michele on the set of Glee, and the two were together in their real lives for more than a year. The actress supported Monteith during this year’s rehab and was reportedly a good influence on him. Apparently, she heard about the news of his death over the telephone, and was devastated. Michele is expected to release an official statement, although we understand why she’s taking her time. Several other celebrities already showed their support via Twitter, including Zooey Deschanel, Kim Kardashian, Sophia Bush, Nina Dobrev and Ricky Martin. Some fans believed that Cory and Lea were going to get married in two weeks time (?) and that it’s a good thing he got to see her in a wedding dress, even if just on the show. Cory’s last tweets were “what the crap is Sharknado”, quickly followed by “oh. IT’S A SHARK TORNADO,” on July 12th. The actor died the next day.
