With Paris Fashion Week reaching an end, we’re looking back at some of its best moments:
Clearly the most buzzed about show was Chanel on Tuesday. The setting for the show was a supermarket, complete with dozens of custom made Chanel groceries. Check out Garance Dore‘s post on the topic to get some insights.
Karl Lagerfeld reinvented the brand once again, putting its trademark tweed on unexpected pieces, such as sunglasses or sneakers. Speaking of which, sneakers were turned into boots. The precious Chanel bags were wrapped in plastic or inspired by shopping baskets, while the models had absolutely crazy hair, with lots of accessories and dreads. Rihanna, Melanie Griffith, Clemence Poesy, Marianne Faithful and Keira Knightly were some of the most prominent celebrities to have graced the front row, most of them wearing Chanel.
It was the first collection for Louis Vuitton without Marc Jacobs, and it looks like Nicolas Ghesquiere did a great job on his own. His first collection for the prestigious fashion label was inspired by the 1960s, westerns and sportswear, in an eclectic but interesting mix. The sunglasses on the catwalk were sporty, made of acetate, and colorful, and we can really imagine them on street style blogs as soon as they hit the stores. Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Chloe Sevigny, Kate Mara and more were present at the show.
The fall collection of Valentino was impressive, as one would expect from the label. A mix of delicate bird and butterfly embroidered pieces, with faux fur, prints and bold colors were all spotted on the runway. Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli encompassed the brand’s aesthetics flawlessly, with a modern touch. The interesting sunglasses are based on aviator shape, but they’re descending and sort of triangular. The front row was a mix of street style darlings, such as Miroslava Duma, Anna Dello Russo and Olivia Palermo, but also Valentino Garavani.
Christian Dior mixed feminine with edgy on the runway, and it’s looking good. There were pastels as well as bright, primary colors, and color blocking. The sunglasses we spotted were rimless, with a single metallic upper rim towards the upper part – a minimal and unusual style. Asymmetrical hemlines, sheer fabrics and sculptural shoes were also part of the show, which was attended by famous faces such as Eva Herzigova, Jessica Alba, Rihanna and Emma Roberts.
Another spectacular show was put on by Chloe. The usual minimalism of the brand was a bit changed, with metallic embellishments and colorful prints. But there were still plenty of covetable coats and pieces of jewelry. Beauty-wise, the models looked natural, but with lilac eyeshadow that made their eyes pop. The girls from Haim were present at the show, as well as Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, Miroslava Duma and Olivia Palermo.
