26 year old Leighton Meester has been critically acclaimed for all her parts in not so critically acclaimed movies – and now it’s finally time for her to be in something that’s worthy of her talent. The Oranges is a comedy-drama featuring Hugh Laurie, Oliver Platt and Adam Brody. Meester plays the role of a smart young woman, Nina Ostroff, who falls for her father’s best friend. This couldn’t have come at a better time, given that the infamous Gossip Girl has now reached its final season. Saying bye-bye to Blair Waldorf may not be an easy thing to do, but it’s definitely the right thing to do. “I think it’s ending at a beautiful, perfect time. But it’s because our contracts are up. I don’t think anyone wants to stay after their contracts. It’s been an amazing tool to learn from, and I owe pretty much everything — even this film — to Gossip Girl, ” Meester says. The actress was 20 when the show started, and she grew up with her character, but she’s very much ready to move on.
