Anne Hathaway rocked her long hair with a golden pendant and Roberto Cavalli sunglasses, but she looks just as amazing now, in short hair. Together with Jessica Chastain, the Oscar-nominated actress is featured in the Time magazine Great Perfomances spread. Also featured are Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables) and Sally Field (Lincoln). Hathaway discusses her Les Miserables character from a modern perspective: As a woman born in 1982, I take for granted so many freedoms that Fantine wouldn’t even dream of.” The actress famously lost a huge amount of weight for her role, and some co-workers thought she might be taking her commitment too far. Hathaway said: “I see the sort of work that people like Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet can do, and I want to do that level of work so badly. But I don’t believe I’m as gifted as them. So the only thing I can control is how hard I work at it — how much do I commit to it? How far will I take it?” Hathaway tried her best to shake off her Princess Diaries role and be taken seriously in Hollywood.
