The singer just launched a new music video for the single “Bring the Noize”.
Leave it to M.I.A. to make spectacular, controversial videos that are bound to go viral. The English singer is known to have this superpower, and she did it once again as she launched her latest video yesterday, June 25th, for the newly released song, “Bring The Noize“. The song is apparently a tribute to the 1987 song of the same nam by Public Enemy, but it ends with lyrics from Janis Joplin: “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”. The song will be included on M.I.A.’s fourth album, “Matangi“, which is coming out this fall, at an yet unknown date. The singer revealed in a BBC interview that the new album will be darker, and released at a time when you have to “deal with the concept of freedom in more ways that one”.
The video begins with a M.I.A. wearing all white, with web-braided hair and funky cat eye sunglasses, and it continues with the singer donning pink hair and lips with blue eyeshadow. Her fashion sense is sharp as usual – did you see those blingy golden nails? Only M.I.A. could pull them off like that at the age of 37 and with a 4 year old at home.
