The 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations are out now, and we’re giving you the scoop! Like every year, there are shows and actors that have received more nominations than others, there are favorites and there are surprises.
The shows with the most potential to get awards are: American Horror Story: Asylum with 17 nominations (including actors Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Zachary Quinto and Sarah Paulson), Game of Thrones with 16 nominations (including Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and Diana Rigg) and the television movie Behind the Candelabra with 9 nominations (including Michel Douglas, Matt Damon and Scott Bakula).
A new favorite – and quite the surprise – is the Netflix series House of Cards, which is the first web-launched series to have ever been nominated. The show got nods for best drama, best actor and best actress, which is a huge step for both Netflix and web-based broadcasting in general. The network got 14 Emmy nominations this year, which may not seem like a lot compared to HBO’s 108, or even to CBS’ and NBC’s 53 nominations each, but is still pretty good.
